How many times do I hear myself say, "where is that big orange binder?" or "has anyone seen that big orange binder?" The big orange binder has been accumulating recipes, kinspiration & original recipe cards tucked into plastic sleeves for my entire-almost-forty year existence. "The Big Orange Binder" is an organization attempt. It's a recipe with a story neatly packaged in a place where I'll always be able to find the ever-elusive . . . Big Orange Binder.

Cookie Dough Brownies

Shared as a Mother's Day Indulgence from my Thirty-One Director . . . . 

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies

For Brownies:
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter or margarine softened
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Cookie Dough Layer:
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup chocolate chips

In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate chips. Cool slightly. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Stir in melted chocolate. Combine flour and baking soda, add to batter. Spread into a greased 13x9x2 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 16 to 22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

Cookie Dough Layer - In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars. Beat in milk and vanilla. gradually add flour. Stir in chocolate chips Drop by tablespoonfuls over cooled brownies, carefully spread over the top. Cut into square. store in refrigerator.

Note: cookie dough layer is not baked and does not contain eggs.
